newpamroy copyPam Roy’s passion for parenting and education reform is inspired by her three daughters, now aged 18 to 22. Her mission is to help children and their families navigate the tumultuous school years and emerging adulthood with a focus on health and wellbeing.

Pam’s years of experience as a parent, market researcher, business owner, investor, and community leader have provided her with a unique perspective on education and the economy.  Her recent return to college to pursue a master’s degree in school counseling online from NYU gave her insights into the world of higher education as well as online learning. She put the last part of her degree, the internship, on hold to focus on this blog. In addition, she is starting a career guidance service called Square One Pathways to help teens and young adults, including at-risk/foster youth, explore pathways to careers emerging in the new economy.

Pam graduated from USC in 1981 with a B.S. in Business. She worked as a financial analyst for Bechtel Investments, Inc. before moving into the field of real estate market research. She was a Partner at RCLCo, Inc. and opened their Washington, D.C. office. She eventually started her own consulting firm, Manfre Realty Advisors and worked with clients around the country before marrying and moving back to California.

While raising her daughters, Pam devoted herself to philanthropy.  She has been involved with foster youth for the past ten years, including helping organize sibling reunion events and life skills workshops. She and her daughters belong to the Laguna Chapter of National Charity League, Inc. where she has served as a board member and active leader for many years.

Pam was so moved by Vicki Abeles’ groundbreaking documentary Race to Nowhere, that she became an Associate Producer of her follow-up film, Beyond Measure, What Counts Can’t be Counted and is an Executive Producer of her forthcoming film, The Gatekeeper: Math in America.

Pam enjoys time with friends and family, reading, and traveling.
